Portion: 100g of pure goodness for 5-6 salads or smoothies
Taste: China Rose microgreens have a crisp, succulent texture and a spicy radish-like flavour with a mild sweetness.
General nutrition: Radish microgreens and China-rose in particular, are hidden gems amongst commercially available microgreens. China-rose has modest vitamin and mineral nutritional content but it is its bioactive compounds that separates it from the pack. A 100g helping contains 42% RDA of Vitamin C, a respectable 25% of Vitamin E, 24% of Vitamin B9 and 18% of Vitamin B3.
Bioactive Compounds: In a study conducted on the Phytochemical (bioactive) concentrations and antioxidant capacity in Brassicaceae microgreens, China Rose radish had the highest Phenolic and second highest Glucosinolate content. This is almost 1.25 and 3.6 times higher respectively than those found in Broccoli, which is ‘famous’ for its concentration of these compounds.
